Journal #1: Soundtracks of My Life

I’ll be honest, when I was first asked to make a playlist to be featured on The Occasion’s blog I hesitated. First of all, these guys have unreal music taste. They’re obsessed with all things music from making playlists to DJing to making their own beats. So getting compared to them is nothing short of intimidating for a complete and utter rookie like me. Which brings me to my next reason: I don’t consider myself to have good music taste. It consists of a little of everything from Top 40’s to punk rock to EDM remixes to musical soundtracks and everything in between. It’s scattered and all over the place and definitely not curated. This is why I never make playlists. Since my music taste varies so much, I find it difficult to streamline it enough to make a cohesive playlist. I don’t know how people do it! But alas, I decided to step out of my comfort zone and make a playlist for them. This forced me to organize my music and I actually ended up with a few ~vibey~ playlists so I thought that I might as well share them with you too!

You know those songs that never fail to bring a smile to your face? For me, these are it. Whether I’m blasting it full volume in the car with my best friends, dancing alone in my bedroom, or trying to cheer myself up after a tiring day, these songs never fail me. There’s something about the energy in these songs that I can’t help getting caught up in and some of them a even a bit nostalgic. this is what makes us girls.

These are the songs that make me love being a girl. I don’t know how the best way to explain this is but these songs bring out the girly side of me. So this playlist is best listened to at full volume when getting ready for a night out or when dancing around the living room with your girl gang. Because sometimes girls really do just wanna have fun.

No moody betch is complete without a playlist about love. Whether you’re falling in love or heartbroken, this playlist has your back. Do I know what true love feels like? ... No, but I do fall in love with cute strangers every other day. These are the songs that soundtrack those moments (and the moments I realize I’ll never see them again). It contains all the ~feels~ and sounds even better with a comforting cup of warm tea or pint of your favourite flavour of Ben & Jerry’s (or Haagen-Dazs or Halotop, I’m not picky).

Well that was stressful. Organizing my music may not be my forte but at least I have that confirmed now. Hopefully you guys enjoy the songs on these playlists as much as I do!
